Whitehall Mansion has been baking fresh daily on Watch Hill Avenue — and no, you won't find a single machine-made loaf in our ovens.
Whitehall Mansion didn't start as a brand. It started as a conviction: that the bread on your table should taste like something made by human hands, not assembled by a conveyor belt.
Since 1965, our ovens have fired on Watch Hill Avenue in the heart of Stonington. We source locally — dairy from nearby farms, flour from regional mills, fruit from Connecticut orchards — and we bake everything in small batches, every single day.
That's why our sourdough has a crust that cracks when you break it. That's why our pastries arrive warm. That's why people drive past three exits to get here.
Sourdough, ciabatta, focaccia, rye — all leavened naturally, baked in stone-deck ovens, and pulled fresh every morning before the neighborhood wakes up.
Butter-laminated croissants, flaky danishes, fruit tarts, and éclairs made from scratch. Our pastry case empties by noon — and that's by design.
Olive oils, aged balsamics, local cheeses, preserves, and pantry staples — each one hand-selected. If we wouldn't keep it in our own kitchen, it doesn't go on our shelves.
Birthdays, weddings, anniversaries — whatever the occasion, we bake it to order. Tell us the flavor, the size, the story. We'll handle the rest.
Single-origin pour-overs, rich espresso, fresh-squeezed juices, and seasonal specials. Pair it with a warm pastry and stay a while — the Wi-Fi is fast and the chairs are comfortable.
Corporate gatherings, holiday parties, intimate dinners — we build grazing boards, sandwich platters, and dessert spreads that make your event feel effortless.
Not the bread. The starter. Our sourdough culture has been feeding our ovens since long before most of us were born — passed down, fed, and tended with the same care a family passes down a recipe card.
The result is a loaf with a crust that sings and a crumb that holds everything together. It's the reason people ask us for the name of the bakery across town — and then leave disappointed when they try to replicate it at home.
